My dearest little Sweetheart:

So this was Tuesday and that means it’s another day closer to when my darling will be home with her daddy again. Won’t be so happy though? I’m counting every day dear heart. How do you feel dear heart? How is Nancy Lee? Did she sleep well Sunday night or did she cry because her daddy deserted her? I wonder if she’ll like her daddy?

I was to Mrs. Quade’s for supper — and this morning to breakfast. I’m going there again soon. Maybe she can dig up some income tax work for me — some people came last year & the year before but they were disappointed because I wasn’t there.

I think from what I overheard Mrs. Schultz might have a baby too I overheard her this noon while I sat in the parlor.

If she don’t get that corduroy cut pretty soon I’ll ask for it & have it cut somewhere else. She’s a 100% dumbbell.

Some of our neighbors will have a baby too — I guess — I also overheard that. So if that’s a fact 69th Ave will be the scene of “doll parades.”

Mrs. Quade didn’t have any news & nothing happened around here.

It was such wonderful weather today a real spring day.

I’m not getting the paper yet that’s another Mrs. Schultz didn’t do yet. She promised to tell the newsboy to start bringing the paper again — I’ll call up the Journal tomorrow & get it coming again.

My supper is just about done I’m having pork chops for supper. But no spuds — I’ll eat bread with the meat.

William’s bought another car a Jewett they allowed him $25.00 for his old car. I guess he’s got another wreck on his head, a Jewett is pretty old — they haven’t made them for 4 or 5 years.

Did you get the license or rather did Milton apply for one yet? If “ma” wants me to I’ll go down to the Journal Saturday. Have Milton get a money order issued to the Secretary of State for the required amount & send it to me. Well dear heart I’ve run out of news will you please excuse this short letter?

With all my love to you & Nancy & regards to the folks

I am forever

Your Wallie

Dearest Sweetheart Wallie:

While “Ma” is fixing Nancy Lee up for the night I’ll write to you. She has one of her streaks again and it’s a job to keep her quiet. I guess Dr. Reist will have to come over & see her. (Did you read this same thing yesterday — it seems to me I wrote it.) Last night I didn’t know what to do with her anymore — she was dissatisfied no matter what I did. I slept until almost nine o’clock because I lost out on so much sleep during the night.

An insurance agent from the Metropolitan was here & wanted to insure the baby. They have “20-payment life” policies or “20-year endowments” for babies. They run from 5¢ to 40¢ a week. 25¢ would give us $250. What do you think about. I told him I must consult you first, and that it would have to be transferred to Milwaukee as we lived there. We would have the protection from now on, and could also have the nurse’s service if the baby were insured. I told the agent my husband was insured by the company and that we could have the nurses’ service because of that, but he said that was not the case. The mother must be insured in order to get service too he said. I told him I positively would not take any insurance for myself — I have enough.

After thinking about it, it might be a good thing to insure her now already, but I want your consent before taking any. Tell me what you think about it, won’t you please, Sweetheart?

Because of yesterday being a holiday, neither one of us received letters today. Tomorrow we will I hope.

If it’s as nice tomorrow afternoon as it was today, Nancy Lee and I will venture out for the first time. We will visit Mrs. Mathwick providing her children have no children’s disease of any kind. Perhaps we’ll only go for a walk too. We must become accustomed to the outside air though.

Dear, you remember those pens Marie asked about when you were here, will you send a few of them in your next letter. Wrap them up in a little paper and I think they’ll be alright.

Wed. Morning

I couldn’t finish last night — the baby wouldn’t let me. It’s another wonderful day.

Last night Milton attended a meeting of the Marathon Mercantile Co. in the Green Room of the Hotel Wausau. It was all about “Pleasing.” Milton got 3 cigars and a lunch — all “pleasing” brand.

Some good news for you Dearest. I guess the folks will take me home the 7th of March. Dad, Mother & Milton — and the boy who is going to stay in the store will be busy on the 14th, so it will have to be the 7th for us. Are you sorry?

I’m going to eat breakfast now — slept until almost ten o’clock because I didn’t sleep the first part of the evening.

I’m expecting a letter from you today Sweetheart. The mailman is due in a little while.

All my love to my dear Sweetheart,

Mabel.
