Hello, little Sweetheart:

How is my little pal today? Fine I hope. I’m feeling fine too. So if you feel fine & I feel fine then we’re all fine. I received the box, containing the shirts & the eats. Ger! sweetheart I have so much on hand yet. I just tonight started on that large cake which you sent along Sunday. I bet you think I’m stretching it – you bet I am. Haven’t spent any money for eats as yet – that is something – Um – Um.

Before I sat down to write this letter I just finished up on a little spree – I washed all the dishes – it was some bunch too – but that’s better than not washing them at all. Course I admit they are not as clean as when [you] do them but they’ll have to do.

Yesterday I received a card from Schaibel he had to inquire how the old bachelor was getting along. We can do lots of things can’t we sweetheart? I am enclosing a letter from Martha for you. It came today. But I didn’t get any from you though. I’m scared and I felt blue & downhearted all afternoon I thought maybe you got sick – are you. Please darling be careful & very careful at that.

I was out to Harry’s last night he promised if he could possible make it, he’ll bring that furniture.  I didn’t get home until 12 bells. So if he brings it I’ll have something to do. I only hope I’ll do it good enough to suit you.

Mrs. Quade was out here this afternoon, so Mrs. Schultz tells me she told her to tell us that she is so lonesome for us and then she started to cry. Poor old thing. She feels very much hurt that we didn’t even drop her a line where as she says, we both can write so well. She also told Mrs. Schultz that she’s now convinced about the distance from her house out here. She was very surprised to hear that you were at Wausau. I’ll go to see her some night next week – but Schultz’s have not paid me yet nor have they said when they would so I’ll break the news on rent day that “it’s okeh with me to take it out at least 20.00 off from the rent. I’ll remind them that while I did that work that I did not have a jolly good time doing it.

That deduction will be taken care of on Sunday morning.

Harry says they were successful to secure that loan that they’ll get the money next week.

We had some great weather today. It was so hot in the house although the furnace is all checked. I’m hope that we don’t get any more snow before our little guy’s debut to the world. I’ll tell you the reason for that wish tomorrow.

Mr. Schultz – “Schousltz” tonight ripped a hole into the linoleum at the bottom of the stairs. They again have company.

One time a guy belonged to the Eagles & they were planning a bazaar. For 1st prize they offered a Cadillac Sedan. He refused to buy a ticket. During the week of the bazaar he dreamed that he had won that car. Also that it was delivered right to his house. Which standing at the window admiring the car a young lady stepped out of the car – she was all completely naked she got out the rear door & again entered the front door in doing so she stopped forward a little and right between her bum-basity there was a little sign that had the number 54 on it. So that woke him up. The next morning he beat it straight down to the longe hall & asked if ticket #54 was still to be had. It was. So he took it. He felt positive that he won that car so Sunday AM he goes down to claim it. But he was told that he did not win the car. He was told that #504 won it. And suddenly he realized that he made a mistake – he failed to see the O…  5 O 4 – ha ha ha.

Well sweetheart don’t get mad that’s a nias joke – tell me what you think of it.

My hand is getting tired so I’ll close.

With all my love

& best regards to the folks

I am, as ever

Wallie

My dearest Wallie:

Today I’m going to write to you before our company comes, if I can. The last two days we’ve had unexpected company, but today we invited “Aunt Tena” and my grandmother. They don’t know I’m here and will be quite surprised I suppose. Mrs. Drew came again this morning and I expect it was just to see my shape, (I was sitting at the table all the while she was here before and she couldn’t see much) but she didn’t get a glimpse of me at all. I was dusting in the front room and didn’t come out. I don’t care if they find out, only I don’t have to advertise.

We’ve been going to bed rather early the last few evenings — I can’t sleep so well though when I get so much sleep.

I didn’t receive a letter from you today yet, Sweetheart, but yesterday two came. Maybe there will be one this afternoon. I hope you can find the stationery in the dresser drawer alright. Do you play the piano much since you’re home alone, Dear?

My grandmother just came and was much surpised too. My Mother is sewing a slip for her — her Christmas present.

Your fountain pen ran out of ink and as I haven’t any fountain pen ink, I’m writing with a different pen just now. I’ll get some good ink from the store.

We haven’t done much sewing yet — most of it is done though — but will have to embroider pretty quick.

It’s quite warm here — has been all day week. It snowed quite hard yesterday. Have you any trouble keeping the furnace going, Sweetheart? I hope not because it wouldn’t be very nice to come home to a cold house every night. I’m lonesome for our cozy little flat, Wallie, I’ll be so glad to come back.

How is the office gang? So Marge Poe really is —- ? Does she look bad? Betty Keane surely is confidential with you, isn’t she? But she’s a good-hearted kid even if she smokes, etc.

Only 2 more days and one week will be over. I’m so glad. We’ll both live through it, won’t we Sweetheart? We’ll both keep thinking of how nice it will be to be together again.

I’m trying to write while there’s talking going on all around me, so please excuse the errors & inconsistency of my letter, won’t you?

Milton wants to make me some home-brew. He makes me malted milk too.

I have to finish now so the mailman takes this along. Please keep on writing, Dear, I will too.

Your loving wife & Sweetheart

Mabel
