Dearest Sweetheart:

I received your letter as you promised — that was very sweet of you, Dear. You even walked way down to Greenfield Ave. to mail it.

It’s nice again today although it snowed this morning for a few hours. Did it snow down there?

Mrs. Drew is over here now, I’ll have to write just the same. I want you to have this Wednesday. I was so happy to get your letter. I can imagine how tired you were, but getting to work at 8:10 is better than not getting there at all. What did Clyde say?

Mother is baking today so you will be getting a pachage in a day or so. I think Mrs. Schultz will sign for a package, don’t you?

Marie fixed my hair for me last night — she’s pretty good at it. I did quite a bit of ironing yesterday & today. Wallie could you send me an old pair of shoes — these high heels don’t feel so good for every day. I have to wear my new bedroom slippers now. (Don’t send any — I can wear Marie’s.)

Dad coughed so much last night — his chest hurts him terribly so tonight I’m going to see that it’s greased with lard & turpentine (your remedy). Take good care of yourself Sweetheart, because I can’t doctor you up now. You take a cold so easily.

How do you like cooking, Dear? It isn’t so bad when you’re used to it, is it? Did you speak to that Mr. Brown already? I hope you can have him with you because it will be so much company for you.

We just missed the mailman so Milton will have to go down to the Drug store.

Well Sweetheart, I don’t know what else to write just now, so I’ll sign off until tomorrow. Gee, but I miss you, Dear. I’m kept busy here, etc., but you know I don’t like to be away from you. Milton brought us some tangerines — they taste real good.

Goodbye Sweetheart,

My love is all yours,

Mabel.

My Dearest Mabel:

While I’m waiting for the coffee to “perk” I’ll busy myself with this letter. That’s the first time I’m cooking coffee – I’ve still been using that which you made for me on Saturday. Also today was the first time I had milk delivered.  Also so far I did not buy any meat or anything else. Remember I told you about Mr. Williams’ hunch about that Marge Poe? Well he guessed just right. Today he took sick that she fainted out in the girls’ C – N. Patty Kearns told me about it.  She said she was out there with her at the time. Marge Poe also got her finger squashed in the door during that spell. All the girls know about it – but her own mother & sister do not.

I was so glad to hear from you my little darling sweetheart – I couldn’t wait to get upstairs to open it. On my way up the steps I was detained by Mrs. Schultz she asked all about our trip. Also she asked to borrow the downstairs key as the old man took it with him to work this morning.

How are you feeling now that I’m not there with you. Are you lonesome for me yet? I put your picture on the dresser so there you can keep me company. It’s so terribly dead all alone in the house. I guess I’ll have to get a little puppy or something to keep me company.

The letter I wrote you last night was supposed to be picked up at 9:25 last night. Let me know when you got it, will you sweetheart?

Will you also tell me where those ties are which you spoke about Sunday – those old ones I mean.

I bet you’re wondering how I managed to get up this morning. Last night I took a cardboard box & placed the clock into it – by heck I heard the old buzzard this morning. But after that I thought I’d sleep a little longer and almost it got too late.

Today the weather was very nasty – it rained that makes it so damp. But we don’t have very much snow left.  Maybe spring will be here soon.

I worked pretty hard today but still the old inventory is hanging around – it looks as though we’ll be working Saturday again. I hope we’ll get that old stuff out of there way soon I’m getting fed up on it.

I mustn’t write too much at one time otherwise my letters won’t have any more news to tell you.  So I’m signing off. Well my darling today is over with so that’s another day less. With all my heart I am always

Your Wallie
