Chippewa Falls, Wis.

4/20/29

Hello My darling Mabel:

Received your nice letter this noon and thanks for allowing me to view “4/6” of our photography efforts of last Sunday.  I just wonder what mystery surrounds the other “2/6”?  Let’s see now just what were those other two pictures about?  I remember now, one must have been fit for a “garter” ad of someone who is the “star”?

But I can’t bring to my mind what the other one is like.

Gee, my sweetheart your face looks pretty on one of the pictures you sent me and you’ll soon notice I wasn’t slow to appreciate beauty so I quickly laid claim to it – I slipped it off & put in my watch – you know my watch fares my heart and you are looking at my heart at those times when I’m not gazing at it and trying to take the looks off your picture.  It is a dandy.  But don’t I look like a 100% jier[?]  That’s the way I always look you better look at your camera I might have broken the lens.  I’m returning the picture to you.

Gee but I’m lonesome for you I don’t know what to do with myself.  I didn’t work this afternoon so I went & slept.  That’s what I do when I’m not otherwise occupied – but don’t think I’m a sleepy head.  I should take advantage of the opportunity to sleep when ever I can so I always take a “beauty” nap.  But I’ve taken so many “beauty” naps but I always remain the same – homely as night.

What are you doing with yourself tonight & Sunday?  I’m going to Church with that telegraph operator tomorrow.  He asked me several times already but this is the first Sunday that I’m in town since I got acquainted with him.

The 5th floor of the Hotel is a lively place tonight.  The Elks occupy the 5th floor for their Clerk Room and they’re having a smoke tonight and they have a couple girls who’ll maybe dance the dance of the 7 veils anyhow they’re all dressed up in “Shredded Wheat” shirts.

Why oh why ain’t I an Elk for tonight?  The town’s most “respectable” “tired” business men are attending tonight’s event.  “Andy” is an Elk if he’s there I’ll bet he don’t need his “help to read” tonight.

I bought a new shirt & tie tonight.  That shirt is white broadetooth[?] and the tie is a striped blue – dark & light blue “Polka” dot design.  If you’re a good girl I’ll wear it when I see you next week.

This evening I “audited” some of my expense bills and found that I cheated myself out of $8.00 so that’s allright I just have $8.00 know coming that was for railroad fare which I overlooked – such a foolish thing to do to cheat my own self.

Next week Mollerus & I must make an investigation as to the “what became” of a certain Oakland car.  The owner of the Chippewa Valley Amt Co insists that they had this car in stock as the close of the year 1927 but the records don’t show what disposition was made of it he thinks somebody drove off with it without saying “thank you.”  The system of accounts for an Automobile concern is a very complicated undertaking.  Steppert should have a job like that so that he’d keep out of mischief as Barthels puts it.  That would keep him on his toes I’ll tell you right here.  But our aim is to simplify matters for the old bird who keeps the books – he’s 57 years old and has kept books for 30 years but he didn’t learn anything in all those years yet the poor old devil is sitting on pins all the while since we started work there.

Sweetheart, everybody whom I meet asks me if I’m still single because I told them old last time I saw them what a wonderful girl you are.  The other day I went over to one of the offices we worked at 2 months ago and all the girls gave me the “glad” eye.

Well my darling sweetheart it’s only 15 minutes till next week then I can say I’ll be with my little sweetheart at the end of week are you glad?  I’ve told you all I know of right now so I’ll sign off.  With all the love for you in the world

I am

Your sweetheart

Wallie.
