Chippewa Falls, Wis.

4/15/29

My dearest Sweetheart:

I just finished supper after a hard day’s labor doing nothing.  I slept from 9 bells this morning until 4 this afternoon I really did welcome the sleep this time, my darling.  You too will have a chance to catch up on sleep too I hope you’ll take advantage of it.  Can you imagine my darling, I pretty nearly missed the train I got to the Depot at 11:49 – one minute to spare.  But close don’t count, does it?  I got into Eau Claire on time – 10 minutes of four.  I slept in the Depot how funny, that I didn’t oversleep.

When I arrived at the Hotel which was seven bells this morning Mrs. Tracy, the manager greeted me with a pleasant good morning and then asked where J. J. M. – was.  She also reminded me of the fact that a gentleman was stopping at the Hotel for a conference with J. J. M. – I said I know it because I saw the name on the register it is your good friend – “Chas” Barthels!  That’s why I didn’t work today.  But I don’t relish such stalling even if I get paid for it because that stalled off one day of our getting through here and I’m so anxious to get through.  So I can be with you.

I had a dream of J. J. Mollerus when I was sleeping in the Depot at Eau Claire.  I dreamed he was so drunk that he could hardly talk and did his breath stink!  Oi Yoi!  Who knows what kind of a party he & “Chas” may attend tonight.  But I hope not.  Otherwise he (J. J. M.) would be laid up another day and so would I.

After I get through with this letter I’m going to the Dentist – if he’s in I’m going to have a tooth pulled.  Ain’t I got real fun?

Sweetheart! that cake tasted so good, especially the muffins they are sure swell and don’t think me uncouth or without “brought-ups” I want to thank you for them, now I forgot to do so last night.  You are so good to me my darling and I love you so much.  I love you more each day.  God bless you sweetheart.

The old town looks exactly the same as the first time I saw it.

The weather is pretty nice although they had snow when you had it.  But it’s all gone now.  The Wausau Bus don’t run yet.

My darling I don’t know of anything more to tell you about right now so I’ll sign off.  But remember I love you more than ever and I’ll write more tomorrow.  With a million hugs and kisses I am your own

Wallie
