Chippewa Falls, Wis.

3/4/29

My darling Mabel:

I’ll now commence with the fulfillment of my end of the bargain – of writing to each other every day.  That will be so interesting I hope you’ll find it so too.  I just had my supper that pie & “sandwich” which you gave me were my dinner – they both were great, my darling, accept a kiss in return for it.  Am I ever tired!  How about you my darling Sweetheart!  I didn’t get no sleep at all last night.  I wish I would have called the depot before leaving you – I could have stayed 1 hour longer with you.  The train did not come in until 1:25 A.M.  So consequently I had to sit around the depot at Wausau.  We missed that train at Merrill and at 2:25 A.M. so we had to wait there until 5:50 A.M.  I got into Chippewa at 7:35 A.M.  Now how do you like that for chartiness[?] in quoting time schedules.

As I said before, I am so tired I fell asleep a couple times today but I couldn’t help myself.  But what do we care about that?  We had a most wonderful time out of it so we must overlook such a trivial matter as being tired.  Otherwise I’m feeling pretty good only I’m getting some cold sores on my upper lip that may compel me to raise a mustache.  I wonder if you’d like me if I had a mustache.

It was pretty snappy at Eau Claire this morning.  But it was a wonderful day.  It certainly did a lot of thawing here.  I suppose it’s about the same at Wausau.

Well my dearest sweetest darling Mabel I read the letter you gave me yesterday afternoon.  I’m so sorry my darling that I was so dumb as not to catch on yesterday afternoon when you went to the trouble of getting that piece of sheet music “My Sweetheart of Dreams” & then all I did was look at it.  Say you’ve forgiven me won’t you my darling?  That letter was also a gem.  Keep it up my darling it won’t be long then when can be happy together forever & ever.

“Sweetheart of All My Dreams” - "Sweetheart of All My Dreams (I Love You-I Love You-I Love You)" from Sweetheart of All My Dreams (I Love You-I Love You-I Love You) by Johnny Marvin (1929).

Please excuse the stationery my darling – Mollerus beat it out & I didn’t have a chance to catch him to get my grip.  I’m trying to get the letter done by 7 o’clock maybe you’ll get it tomorrow.  I’ll tell you more tomorrow because I’m too tired to think.

A Carload of Love

Your lover

Wallie
